James H. Ebbinghaus, P.E., 91, of Lake Barrington, formerly of Mt. Prospect, passed away peacefully February 7, 2017. Beloved husband of Mary Ebbinghaus (nee Bertrand) for 65 years. Loving father of David (Rosann), Donald (Ruth), Janet (Douglas) Wisniewski, Joyce (Kent) Johannsen. Cherished grandfather of Jeffrey (Rachel), Deborah, Elora, Madison, Christopher, and Austin. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, sister Nancy, sister Ellen (Richard Winner), and brother Richard.
Born December 4, 1925 in Vincennes, IN, he graduated with an Agricultural Engineering degree from Purdue University in 1951. Jim served his country proudly in the Air Force. Raised on a farm, agriculture and its equipment was the focus of Jim’s professional life. His 40+ year executive career in the farm equipment industry culminated as Vice President of the Association of Equipment Manufacturers. Active in the American Society of Agricultural Engineers, Jim was especially proud of his part in developing safety standards for the industry.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 11 at 11:00 a.m. at Community Presbyterian Church, 407 N Main St, Mt Prospect, IL 60056.
The family suggests memorial contributions be sent to Special Olympics or Community Presbyterian Church.
